Known problems and what to do about them.
SmartScreen warns "unknown publisher"
The installer is not code-signed yet. Check the download against the .sha256 file published with the release, then choose More info → Run anyway.
Where are my projects?
Projects, settings and logs are in %USERPROFILE%\.openftth. They survive upgrades, and the uninstaller asks before deleting the folder.
Manual tools are greyed out
Manual editing is locked while a crew member or the automatic design works. Wait for it to finish, or use "Stop the crew" in the banner.
Design automatically will not start
The project needs a map extract or an import profile. It also will not start while the crew is working.
A CSV will not import
A CSV with projected coordinates and no CRS must be given one (for example EPSG:31370); the engine refuses to guess. In the import wizard, give the CRS for that file.
The quality report shows an error
An error from check_inputs blocks the design; warnings do not. Every finding carries a fix, shown under it in the import wizard. Very large areas are flagged with advice to split them.
Some drops are longer than the limit
Homes set farther than distances.max_drop_m from any street cannot be fixed by moving a FAT. The check reports them as warnings with an explanation, and the BOQ tab lists them as exceptions to accept at sign-off.
The local crew asks instead of acting
A small local model may read the tool list but ask which tool to use instead of calling it. Pick a larger tool-calling model in the engine menu.
An AI app cannot reach the MCP link
- openFTTH must be running, with the link switched on in Connect AI apps.
- If Require a key is on, the link must carry the current key. New key locks out every app with the old link; add the new link to them.
- ChatGPT and other web-based assistants connect to MCP servers over the internet; they cannot reach a link on this computer.
A risky step is waiting
Trenches, routing outside ducts, exporting for construction, rewinding and posting a work order all wait for an approval card in the app, even when an outside AI app asked for them. Answer the card with allow or deny.
